Within a single wedding we embrace an array of styles including editorial, photojournalism, dark and moody tones, traditional portraiture, fine art composition, sweeping landscapes, timeless black and whites, and retro-inspired flash and strobe images.
We were young newlyweds, inseparable and so in love. We shared so much in common, and our love for one another sparked a zeal for life and a shared desire to craft a beautiful story together. To us, anything felt possible as long as we had each other. From the beginning, creativity was a kindred part of our connection. Our first big decision as a couple was to quit our jobs and pour everything we had into what is now known as Ballesteros Photography. Before meeting Kari, I discovered my love for photography in a high school film class. When we started dating, I passed along everything I had learned. Together, we realized we had something incredible to offer the world as wedding creatives. Beyond the artistry and craft, what drives us most is people and the beauty of people finding love. Photo and video became our shared language, the perfect way to serve others while doing what we love most.
Now, 18 years later, we have had the honor of impacting hundreds of families and couples around the world through the lens of our shared passion. We’ve dedicated our lives to mastering serving couples through the gift we share together as husband and wife.
This is the life for us, and the story continues…
We traveled the world, checking off every destination on our bucket list. Then we purchased an RV and explored the United States with our little pup, Rusty. Music has also been a big part of our story. The first day we saw each other was at church when I was leading worship. I taught Kari to play keys while we were dating and soon discovered she had a beautiful voice. We began leading worship together and, to this day, we still do side by side at our local church, Calvary SLO, in San Luis Obispo…But little did we know, our greatest adventure was still to come. Today, we are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Oliver and Everly. Our career through Ballesteros Photo & Video continues on stronger than ever, providing for our growing family. What a beautiful life it’s been. We’re in awe and so grateful for every wedding we serve, knowing each one puts a roof over our heads and dinner on the table. To look back at where it all began and see the life we live now is humbling beyond words.

If you ask me what my style is, I’d say it’s whatever best fits you. My favorite part is that I stay with you throughout the day for touch-ups and support because I’m not just your makeup artist, I’m also your second photographer and Dan’s lead assistant. As a lifelong music producer and multi-instrumentalist, I’ve had the privilege of using my skills to craft custom soundtracks for our wedding films with intention and care. Each soundtrack becomes a perfect reflection of the couples we’re serving.
By the time I compose your film’s music, I’ve already met you, hosted your engagement shoot, celebrated alongside your family and friends, and shared in the emotions of your day. That journey helps me understand your sound, and it’s incredible how it all comes together.
Because of this process, the challenge of forcing a generic or pre-made song to fit your wedding film simply doesn’t exist. Every song is written specifically for you, designed to match your personality, your wedding aesthetic, and the heart of your story.
